Missed Challenges

Hi,

I tried to play along some challenges back in June and July, one of them was Scrap Around The World and the second for Do Crafts forum. As I said in my previous post, my summer was very busy: work and then trip to my home country, so the pages were left unfinished for while..

So there is my first page:

Lots of mists, stamps, stencils, modelling paste, Prima flowers, chipboard are by Petaloo, alphabets are Prima stickers and Tim Holtz die. No pattern paper on this page.

The second page is:

Here I used mists, paste and stencils to create background, some pattern paper as well and cheese cloths - my recent discovery, some Prima flowers, pearls and wooden camera... Note, both of these pages were finished before I attended to Anna's class, I would probably do few things differently if I left them for later :)

Both pages featuring photos from our holiday in Fuerteventura when visiting beautiful Jandia.

Thank you very much your visit, hope I will post something soon again.

Finnbair's Workshop

Hi everybody,

Hope somebody will still read my blog :). I know it has been while I posted last time, I have no excuse, but summer always gets very busy and then the school started and things were even worse. Ok, enough of excuses and bla, bla...

I was very lucky person to attend Finnbair's workshop this weekend, check out her amazing work at tworzysko.blogspot.com , I am so happy I had opportunity to attend her class.

So with great help of Finn I managed to make this very dimensional page:

  and this canvas:

love them both, thanks Anna :)

And a close up:

This is all for today

Some Summery Pages + More Good News

Hello everybody

We are finally having some glorious sunshine and proper summer weather. Although I am not sure how long is this going to last for, I will just take each day as it comes and enjoy, maybe I should use this unique opportunity to wash all winter jackets - might dry before needed again LOL.

Now I have more good news to share - I have been featured on the Get Creative Blog Challenge with my mixed media page:

I am soooo happy about this as there were so many gorgeous entries.

Today I would like to share with you 2 pages from our last family holiday in tropical Fuerteventurra. First page I did shortly after we came back and the second page was made recently, you can tell it from my style:

Both pages use Bo Bunny papers that I bought last year for these photos and all flowers were hand made; Sizzix dies, stamps, canvas, inks... Title of the first page is coming from the fact what they said about the ride that it was scary but fun :).
My old DSLR camera did not like high temperatures over there, obviously is begging to be retired and replaced by something newer and better, so we were left with our mobile phone cameras and daughter's small camera, but that did not prevent us from taking lots of photos :).

Thank you very much for your visit and enjoy your day.

News to Share and a Layout for Prima BAP

Hello everybody

I have wonderful news to share with you, my layout

was chosen for 3rd place on May Berry71Bleu Challenge. There were so many gorgeous submissions and I am so honoured to be one of a chosen winners.

Now I would like to show you a page I did for May's Prima BAP Challenge. The layout had to be based on this sketch:

and one has to use Prima products, this challenge is closed now but you can find the details about the next one here.

So there is my page:

The photo is of my daughter, all products are Prima except:
inks, crinkled ribbon, alpha dies, glossy accent, plain chipboard which are all by Ranger, Glimmer mists by Tattered Angels  used for colouring Prima wooden pieces and pen is Zig Kuretake!
There is a big pull-out tag behind the photo with journalling about my daughters likes and dislikes as a newly formed teen!

Few close-ups:

Thank you so much for your visit and enjoy your day.

Page Maps + Basic Grey Challenge

Hi everybody,

Page Maps  is celebrating 7th anniversary this months!!! I love this site as a new set of sketches is released each months and if you are ever stuck for an inspiration then the pagemaps.com is a place to go.  They are having several competitions ongoing at the moment, you can check on their blog here, but one I am playing at the moment is with Kelly Goree and  Basic Grey ; all details are here.

The rules are simple, create a page based on this sketch:

and use some patterned papers on your page. This is my take on the sketch:

As you can see, I rotated the sketch and converted it to 12x12 to fit better to my album. Overplayed same photo, I saw this for the first time done by Rachael form awindowtoomyworld.blogspot.com ,. blog definitely worth visiting.

I used Basic Grey Serenade collection of papers,  buttons and stickers are also from the same collection. I love all muted tones in this collection. Small roses are by Prima as well as wooden flowers, leaf and epoxy sticker I put over the sticker that says  'you'. Coloured the wooden flowers and leaf with Ranger distress paints. Doilies are by WRMK and big blue flowers is my own make using Sizzix dies, distress inks and mulberry paper.

Hope you like the page:

Have a nice day and thanks again for your visit.

Monochrome and BW photo Page

Hello everybody,

I have been swamped with the work these days and that will hopefully last for several weeks. However I promised my do-craft buddies to write this page which is a part of our monthly challenge, the challenge is just for fun and inspiration.

The page is already in my gallery and I want to share it with all my readers:

The photo is of me, and the title says 'The First Steps'. Even the photos do not capture my first steps, those were first photos of me walking and they were taken by a photographer visiting the school where my mum used to work. This was school in very rural place, hard to reach at the time and two us were staying there during the school term. There is a big tag behind the photos that tells the story.

To create the background: I started off by applying distress paint (Broken China) on the corners over the Prima 6x6 Crackle Template on mixed media bamboo paper. This was done for completely different page which I decided not to use. The paint was well dried before the next step.  Then I applied  Golden Paste over Chicken wire template (6x6 template) in area where my photos would be.  Before the paste dried I sprayed the page with the Dylusion ink - turquoise blue, generously and with water slightly and left the page to dry well. The paste soaked the ink very well.

Once the page was dried I took back the crackle template and distress ink - walnut stain and  applied in the corners, I tried to go over the paint 'cracks'  and I applied the ink on the edges of the page. Using the same ink and Tim Holtz stamps I stamped the page - this is mainly covered by the doily and photos.

So the next layer was a large Bo-Bunny doily, inked around the edges and my photos on top.

To decorate the page I used the Webster Pages trim, few Prima flowers - small roses, Prima flower centers and the rest of the flowers is my own using Sizzix dies and mulberry paper, chipboard flourishes and letters are also Sizzix die-cuts  from Tim Hotlz grungeboard, painted, glossed and so on...  Other ingredients include: Hero Arts stamps/dies set, distress markers (for colouring the stamps), glossy accent, Tim Holtz safety pin, crackle ribbon, and tiny tag. Once again lots of Tim Holtz and Prima products ;-).

I hope you like my page. As usual few close-ups:

I have 2 more pages ready for two different challenges, I hope I will manage to post them these days. Watch out this space.  We finally have some sunny weather, lets hope that the temperature will rise soon too.

Have a nice day and thank you for your visit and your comments.

Photo is of my 2 daughters and the journaling is about how much two of them brings happiness to my everyday life. For this page I used following:
  • Papers, stickers and trinket   - Prima Marketing - Hello Pastel
  • Card - American Crafts

Mixed Media Page and Flowers Challenge

Hello everybody,

Hope my readers don't mind me posting again so soon ;-).

This time I would like to show you a page I made using white mixed media paper (I prefer this one over normal scrapbooking card because takes inks and paste and so on much better).

There is my page:

I started building my background by applying Golden Modeling Paste over one of Prima Marketing - Poppies collection masks (# 922139), in the area where I planned to put my photo. You can hardly see those on the photo as I sprayed the page with Lime Green Dylusion ink while the paste was still wet. Then I sprayed turquoise ink on the external part of my page and lots of water on the page and left it to dry.

Once the page was dried I applied stamps from Tim Holtz Mixed Media collection around my photo and in the lower left corner. Then I added more Golden paste with brick 6x6 stencil.

For the frame around my photo I used Sizzix die and cut 3 layers out of my mixed media paper (it is thick paper, but not dense - cuts easily) , then sticked them using Ranger Medium, once dried I painted it with brown paint (Ranger) and brushed over Patina Blue Perfect Perl, 3 layers of the paper + glue and paint gave me a thickness of a chipboard.

The chipboard flourishes in the corners are by Petaloo, I only added some white gesso  over them. White roses, metal flower and stickers are by Prima and blue flowers are from my own production using white hand made mulberry paper and Dylusion inks and my Spellbinder dies.. I might give a tutorial on how I make these if any interest.

I decided to enter this page into  Get Creative - May Challenge. You can find all about their challenge on the blog here. For months of May the challenge is to use flowers on the page ;-) - EASY.

There are some close-ups:

Thank you very much for your visit and any comments.

Scrap Around The World May Challenge

Hi All

I promised myself I will be scraping more and taking part in challenges, and here is a brand new challenge run by very talented Helen from Scrap Addict and you can find everything about the challenge on the challenge blog Scrap Around The World.

The challenge provides a sketch and inspiration board which is super cool and for the months of may we have:

I was inspired by the colours, this is my favourite combination at the moment :-)

And there is my page:

I used some stencils and stamps to create my background, feather is made using the spellbinder dies and lots of lumina powder, tulle-silk flowers are my own, you can find the tutorial in my earlier post and paper flowers are by Prima.

I must admit this sketch was not easy for me, and I ended up making 3 backgrounds until finally decided on this one - very plain.

Hope you like the page - there are some closed ups:

I would also like to add that my daughter is wearing her peacock tutu on these photo;  I made the myself taking instructions from  here.

Thank you for your visit.

Prima Goodies Pages

Hi All,

I have been always admiring Prima products but did not have many opportunities to purchase them, only recently I had a chance to see and feel some of their new papers and all other goodies and could not resit but buy some of them.
I made a two pages based on Prima BAP sketches using mainly Prima products:

Photo on the first page is of my DD2. The doily is one more hand made that I got from my mum, and my mum was happy with the fact that I will use them on my pages, after visiting me over she understands that I have no safer place for them in my contemporary home but my scrapbook pages ;-).

And some close-ups.

Papers, stamps and all embellishments are by Prima, inks, paints and alpha dies (second page) are by Tim Holtz. Wooden shapes are painted with distress paint.

That is all for now, have a nice day and thank you for the visit.

Hello Spring Layout

Greetings to all my readers.
One quick post today, this is for  just for fun challenge over at the Do-crafts scrapbooking forum. Theme for April is Spring/Easter. So there is my take:

The photo is back from 2009 and so are those  Basic Grey papers, I remember  taking lots of those photos and ordering the papers few months later having in mind scraping my spring photos, it has been taking while but I am getting there and at least I am using the papers for the purpose I bought them :-).

Other ingredients are BoBunny doily, ribbon by Webster pages,  alpha stickers are from the same Basic Grey paper pack.

Everything else is hand made out of white  mulberry papers (the flowers) and white mixed-media papers (branches, fence, birdie, birdhouse) using die cutting stencils;
  • cherry blossom, flourishes by spellbinders,
  • birdie and fence by Mariann, tattered flower by Tim Holtz).
The flowers are coloured  using distress markers, inks, and some mists. The fence, branches, birdie and the house are cut in tree layers of mixed-media papers, the top layer is embossed too, then they are stick together (to make them like chipboard) using Studio multi-medium matte.Once the medium dried I paint them with acrylic paints and inked the edges.

Thank you very much for your visit.

Using Up Scraps of Paper - Who likes hexagons?

Hi bloggers,
I love hexagons, not only because of my scientific background, aren't they just perfect structures and bees will agree LOL, and they are so simple to draw. And they are so 'IN' at the moment, which is great as that has been helping me to use up some scraps of my papers that I have for ages and could not trow away.

So there is my first page:

I scraped this photo 2 times so far and this page is remake of the first page. I just could not stand the page and had to take it a part. Used stamps and washi tape for the background, some Prima and some of my own flowers, dies are by Tim Holtz (alpha and swirl), Memory box (clouds) and Spellbinders (hexagons), and few close-ups of this page:

The second page: Hexagons again and some Prima flowers, Sizzix dies and EK Success Punch, Unity stamps (label) and Spellbinder dies (label and hexagons)

And my last page today:

and this one is the oldest - probably made last summer, used Tim Holtz stamps, mists and gesso to make the background, added some scraps of paper, Prima flowers, doily die and machine stitching.

And the good news is: I used up those papers, so I am not going to bored you with more pages made out of those, I know I posted lots of them for last year created out of this paper pack.

I started re-designing my blog and what you see at the moment is just temporary solution, don't really have much time for it, but I will get there.

This is all for today, thank you for reading my post and for your comments and enjoy your day.
